GOLF RANGES GET SUPPORT FROM EGU AND EWGA
A new initiative has been launched by the EGU and EWGA aimed at supporting stand-alone golf ranges.
Both governing bodies recognise the fundamental role of ranges in ‘Growing the Game’. Ranges are so often the starting point for newcomers to golf, as well as providing coaching and practice facilities for golfers of all standards.
RangeMark, as the initiative is known, has been created after close consultation with stand-alone ranges. It is a national scheme which will help driving ranges promote their facilities and meet the national standard of quality ranges.
The accreditation scheme aims to identify and recognise quality ranges and is
based on ‘GolfMark’, the national scheme for clubs. To become accredited, driving ranges must meet certain standards in the areas of: Participation, Environment and Child Protection/Duty of Care.
The EGU/EWGA Development Team will support ranges to achieve RangeMark. The ranges will in turn benefit from this national recognition and, having gained accreditation, they will have access to numerous benefits:
· Enhanced business opportunities through EGU Golf Central.
· Promotion of ranges through the EGU/EWGA.
· Access to coaching grants once accredited.
· Recognition within the local community.
· Opportunity to create links with local clubs.
· Ongoing support from a network of Regional Development Officers
In Gloucestershire the initiative will be supported by the County Development Officer, Debbie Casling, for the Gloucestershire County Golf Partnership. For further information contact her by email at gcdo@btinternet.com or telephone her on 07968 894812.
